Cafeteria Versalles in Guadix is an established café and churrería that pulses with the rhythms of daily local life. Situated on Av. Medina Olmos, this spot draws a mixed crowd — from early risers grabbing a traditional Spanish breakfast of churros con chocolate to midday visitors lingering over strong coffee and hearty homemade dishes.

The café is busiest in the mornings, with a lively atmosphere marked by the constant shuffle of waiters calling out orders. It’s a place where locals come for more than just a quick caffeine hit: the combination of freshly fried churros and velvety hot chocolate is a reliable draw, especially during the breakfast rush. If churros are your goal, mornings are the time to arrive since they’re generally only served then, but the hot chocolate keeps its appeal well into the afternoon.

Inside, the vibe is casual and a bit bustling, reflecting its location on a principal shopping street. Visitors can expect a richer sensory experience here — from watching the parade of varied customers to enjoying homemade pastries and traditional plates like ensalada versalles or pechugas de pollo with patatas and pimientos de padrón. The menu offers a thoughtful balance of sweet treats and savory dishes suited to refuel after exploring Guadix or during a mid-day break.

The staff are noted for efficient, friendly service, keeping up with the steady flow of patrons but contributing to an energetic, sometimes noisy ambiance. While the floors may show the wear of constant use, the genuine food and coffee quality maintain the café’s appeal.

Overall, Cafeteria Versalles serves as a predictable and familiar spot for those wanting to settle into a Spanish breakfast routine or enjoy relaxed midday fare. Visitors looking for a typical Guadix café experience with solid churros and genuinely strong coffee will find their place here. It's an accessible, convivial stop that meshes seamlessly with the town’s everyday pace.

Without doubt a classic! Must be the best churros and choc in my experience. We go often.

Really good fast service by friendly staff. Excellent food and good strong coffee. Large bar selection and fair prices. Definitely a place too visit

Stopped for some coffee and outstanding pastries. Busy place on the main shopping drag where the broad spectrum of strange people can be watched. Could do with investing in a floor brush. Not the first Spanish place where they seem to take pride in how mocket their floor is. Bizzare.

If it's a traditional Spanish breakfast you want, this is the place. Chocolate and churros or toast with various topping. Various other drinks as well including coffee and tea. Gets very busy during the morning and quite noisy with the waiters shouting the orders.

If you want churros, they are served only in the morning. However, the hot chocolate (which the churros are dunked in) make a fantastic drink in the afternoon! Excellent pastries, too!
